Abstract

The importance of entrepreneurship projects and activities comes to assume great importance in supporting the economy and increasing its competitiveness. Entrepreneurship and small projects occupy the forefront of the Egyptian state’s agenda. Despite the availability of approximately 2.5 million small and medium enterprises in Egypt, their participation in economic and agricultural development is very weak. Compared to other countries, here it was necessary to recognize the pioneering role that entrepreneurship plays in advancing development by relying on the descriptive and analytical statistical approach and econometric analysis using Granger causality. Among the most important results that were reached was that small and medium enterprises contribute about 75% of the workforce. The total wages of workers amounted to about 40 billion pounds, with a production value of about 505 billion pounds, contributing about 4% of the total Egyptian exports. The volume of agricultural investments also reached 18 billion in 2022 compared to 2.9 billion in 2010. This is in addition to Egypt’s low ranking in the business development, innovation and lack of the effectiveness of business incubators in Egypt, as they do not carry out any technical or marketing consultations. The study recommended the necessity of establishing an institutional entity to link small and medium enterprises with large projects to ensure their continuity, support entrepreneurial education, and reduce administrative routine in completing the transactions and procedures necessary to start a new project and work to internationalize the largest number of Small and medium projects.
